This piece was done for the 2013 Studio & (Durango) "Year" group show, wherein artists depicted a particular year--I chose 1997, a particularly pivotal year in my life. I engaged in more overt symbolism, where a shell no longer fit (in the foreground), a dummy hanging in the background, (inspired by the character of Stavrogin from Dostoevsky's "Demons" which exerted a powerful influence on me at the time), and the Dread Comet Hale-Bopp which made it's ominous appearance during the spring of that year.
